What types of gifts does the Riverview High School Foundation accept?
The Riverview High School Foundation appreciates gifts of cash and other assets—including stocks, bonds, real estate, life insurance, IRA’s and pension plans. All assets must be able to be sold eventually so that the proceeds are invested with the other gifts in the fund, providing an annual funding stream to the charitable cause for which the fund is intended.
Maximum Tax Benefits
Gifts to the Riverview High School Foundation offer the maximum tax benefits allowed by law because the IRS classifies the Foundation as a 501(c)(3) public charity. It is particularly advantageous to use appreciated securities to establish a fund, as the donor receives a tax deduction and does not recognize gain on the contribution of appreciated securities to the Foundation. There can also be estate-planning advantages by removing the asset from the gross estate thereby reducing potential estate taxation.
How are gifts made to the Riverview High School Foundation?
A donor may make a gift or bequest of any size to the Riverview High School Foundation for the school's benefit and the gift will be used according to the donor’s instructions. Some donors designate specific organizations to receive their money. Others limit their gifts to specific areas of concern. Many donors provide undirected gifts to be used by the Riverview High School Foundation in responding to school’s needs as they arise.
Recognition or Anonymity
You may receive public recognition or remain anonymous, as you wish. You may specify that a fund be named for an individual, family, group or special purpose, or established as a memorial or tribute. In this and many other ways, the Foundation helps donors achieve their charitable objectives. The recognition levels listed above are based on donations received between May 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008.
Investment Performance and Management
Professional investment managers safeguard and invest the Riverview High School Foundation's funds. An investment committee, comprised of members of the Riverview High School Foundation’s Board and others with investment expertise, sets the overall investment policy and monitors the performance of these managers.
